In honour of Valentine's Day, we invite everyone in love this season to take part in the sixth edition of the "Dedicate a Tree" project.  Those who want to offer their loved ones something a little unconventional, very long-lasting and eco-friendly: take advantage of our offer and gift a tree!

"Giving a tree instead of a plastic heart is our 'new tradition', a way of reconciling the American holiday of candy and chocolate with Polish reality." - says Joanna Mieszkowicz, Executive Director of the Aeris Futuro Foundation.

To dedicate a tree, give a unique gift and simultaneously do something good for the Earth, all one has to do is fill out the questionnaire on our website.  The lucky recipient will receive a special letter with a personal dedication and thank you, as well as information about the area in which the tree was planted.  In the spring, we will send invitations to the gift-givers to take part in the tree-planting, along with specific details regarding the location and time of the event.

Beyond the ecological benefits of trees, much symbolic value has been ascribed to them throughout the ages. For Slovenians, trees were the source of strength and symbol of vitality. In this tradition, oak trees symbolized male strength, tilia trees were symbols of fertility and considered the trees of women, and rowan trees represented the cyclical rebirth that takes place at each winter's end.

"Honouring this beautiful and ancient sybolism associated with trees, we wanted to add one more layer of meaning: let them also be an expression of love." - adds Mieszkowicz.

Dedicated trees will be planted in the Malopolska region come spring, supplementing our Forest of Lovers near Zawoja.  As usual, all gift-givers will be invited to take part in the planting of their tree.  Through personal involvement in the event, February's holiday of love will live on into spring.  We've been witness to the positive emotions and renewed commitment that result from taking part in the planting itself time and time again.  We were even pleasantly surprised by a proposal during one of our events!

The spring edition of Dedicate a Tree along the Cracow-Moravia-Vienna Greenways trail has drawn to a close

With the help of local communities, 155 trees were planted this spring along the Kraków-Moravia-Vienna Greenways trail.

Trees were planted in Wola, Krzeszowice and Kwaczala this season.

We would like to thank everyone who took part in our initiative this season, and we hope there will be an even larger group involved next time around!
