History

The idea of planting trees to neutralize CO2 emitted due to transport came up at the "Challenges of Sustainable Development" Course organized by the Sendzimir Foundation since 1999. Gisela Bosch, Executive Director of the Sendzimir Foundation Board, is the initiator and propagator of the idea.

Trees are planted in the area of Zawoja by Zawoja Association of the Private Forrest Owners, and every year students from each edition of the course help in arboretum works (picture on the right).

There are different calculators made by foreign organizations. However, they do not always correspond with Polish conditions.

During "Challenges of Sustainable Development" course in 2004 the idea of popularizing and transforming this to Polish conditions arose and an informal 'forest group' was formed.

The TIME FOR FOREST Project started on 1st of October 2005 thanks to the support of The Sendzimir Foundation. The headquarters is based in Cracow.

The Aeris Futuro Foundation has its legal standing since 24 Feb 2006 and develop TIME FOR FOREST Project and plan to create new projects.
